Happy Spring! We took a trip to Phoenix for spring break and had a great visit with Eugene’s family. His brother, Charles, flew out from Honolulu and brought down Grandma Rose from Oakland. It was almost a full family reunion, but we missed Sue, Matthew and Sara, whose spring break didn’t coincide with ours.

We had a great time in Phoenix. The weather was perfect and Emily and Ethan had a ton of fun with their cousins, Jordan and Gracelyn. As if the winter weren’t long enough, our kids wanted to go ice-skating in Phoenix! Luckily they were able to skate with their cousins, so that Mom and Dad could stay outside of the rink where it wasn’t so frigid. One of the highlights of our trip was watching a Cubs spring training baseball game. We also went to the Zoo and spent a lot of time outdoors.

The kids are keeping as busy as ever. Ethan competed in his last gymnastics meet of the year (state meet) at the end of March and did very well. (All of his meets are on our video page.) He has come a long way and has really had a lot of fun in the process. While he continues on with gymnastics, we also gave him the option to add baseball to his schedule and softball to Emily’s. They’re having so much fun in their respective practices. Practices run 2-3 times per week for both of them with games starting in May. (As if we didn’t have enough to do!) But they’re enjoying being outside and learning the fundamentals of the game.

Still no progess on the pet front for us. We’ve been a little overwhelmed and with summer almost here, we’ve got a lot of planning to do. We’re hoping to have a calm spring, free of tornadoes and floods!
